While Laughlin is NOT my cup of tea, I think that prior posters have left you with some misperceptions you if you think that Laughlin has no banks or banks.

Right across from Laughlin is Bullhead City, AZ, a town of about 35,000 people with plenty of banks and groceries. It is about a two minute drive.

Do realize that Laughlin is miserable in the summer months.

Yeah, especially if you can't tell the difference between 115 degrees and 121 degrees ...Laughlin, on average is about 5-10 degrees warmer in the summer than Las Vegas. You'll sometimes hear that Bullhead City will be one of the hottest places in the country on any given day during July even being a degree or two above Death Valley which will normally be the hottest place in the U.S. during the summer. Nevada's record high temperature was recorded in Laughlin, I believe.

Nope. Five or Six degrees do make a difference.

At 110 LV is miserable...but at 115 Laughlin is more miserable.

Actually, we love the heat we have been to Lauglin area, and we are moving there October of 2010, so we have high air conditioning bills, we have high heating bills in Ohio in the dead of winter about $300/month, then you don't have to drive to work on a sheet of ice, and wonder if you'll make it. As for grocery stores, you stock up once a month, fill your freezer and eat healthly. The only thing I will miss is the rain, I love to hear it raining! Oh well. Can't wait to move...

Could someone tell us where Route 66 starts we know it ends in California, when we make our move, we will be driving, and want to take the scenic route to Laughlin, nevada and take a week and see the sights. Any info on driving from Parma, Ohio to Laughlin, nevada which is 2000+ miles would be greatly appreciated, or direct us to someone who could help us out. Thanks....

If you get on mapquest, it will give you a detailed trip route. You can begin by putting in exactly where you are leaving from and where you want to end. I have the 3 day trip from Ohio to Las Vegas still before me too.

Route 66 starts in Chicago. In most places it follows an interstate but in some places [as in AZ] you can follow it fo quite a long time on the old 2 lane road.
