alcohol awareness? yes there's lots of alcohol in vegas, im aware!

ok so it will be about $250-$300 to register but it costs the same to renew? geez i can get a 2 year renewal in florida for $116, 1 year is $58

yes I quoted car insurance for las vegas, esurance would only charge me $20 more then what I am paying now, im not under my parents policy right now either! Im not with Esurance as of right now and you can bet I will be quoting insurance like oh my god to find the cheapest rate for me

thanks airics, you're a big help!

same cost to renew.. plus once you get here, you have 30 days to transfer or else the fines are downright nasty.

well that's real encouraging isn't it? why do all the good places have to be so expensive?

so i cant let my florida tag run until it expires, thats nice. at least nevada keeps a strict rule on new residents getting plates right away, it amazes me how many people have moved here from out of state 2, 3, 4 years ago and STILL have the plates from their homestate. sometimes in florida it seems as if people can get away with anything

but $300 a year is ridiculous, im sorry but thats my opinion. after i take my visit to vegas in april and decide if i really like it i'll pay it but still thats just downright steep

is nevada one of those states that requires people to have a front plate too? because my car doesnt have a thing for a front plate right now, front plates arent mandatory here

if you are in fla, the reason a lot of people have out of state plates is due to dual residences (my neighbors in ohio did this and so do my inlaws)...
nope, can't let the tag expire.
in vegas, plate charges vary on the value of the car.. in other words, if you are driving a 09 Mbenz, you may pay a grand a year for plates.

the price goes down as the car gets older.. i think the minimum is about 150...also check what your coverages are on your insurance, what do you pay now and what do you have for coverage

it varies on the value of the car? nevada really is a strange state. mine shouldn't be too bad, my car's retail value runs at about $9500, with a trade in value of $7100, according to NADA, mine cant be too bad hopefully
Used Car Value - Nissan Altima-4 Cyl. Sedan 4D S

I have collision coverage for my car since it is financed. The bodily injury minimum is $10,000 instead of $15,000 like in Nevada. My payment is roughly $235 a month, cheapest I could find was $256 with Esurance for similar coverage
Florida also requires PIP (personal injury protection) mine is $10000, along with uninsured motorists liability coverage which is $10k per person and $20k per accident. This is with Unitrin Direct

I quoted Esurance recently they wanted $185, but I dont have the cash to swtich over. If Unitrin Direct cannot give me reasonable rate if I relocate I will switch to Esurance as they seem to be the cheapest

it goes by the original msrp. you only have 10k, i don't even know if your finance company will even allow that, most are minimum 50/100, you should check into it... check geico also

oh ok. original MSRP is like $25,000

i'll keep looking into it. its hard to quote insurance for a place you dont currently live in because they all want an exact address and i dont want to just make one up. idk im weird like that i suppose. i know i will have to adjust my coverage if i move. why is coverage so much higher there then it is in florida? are vegas drivers THAT bad?

Davie,

I would get rid of that Nissan, and buy something cash for $500 or so. You will save a TON of money that way. Your car will be $230 a year to register it.

If you have a cheap car, you will only need liability. I have found Progressive to be the cheapest. I pay $38 a month for the lowest state limit liability insurance. I also have to have an SR22 because of a DUI, so my record is not good either.

The minimum is $54 a year, which is what I pay for my 1991 Ford Escort.

An 09 Mercedes is more like $1,800 a year, which is insane IMO.
