Airics I just want to tell you I took your advice and am putting in applications to some employers in Vegas

Since I have grocery store experience I have applied with Smith's. I spoke with a store manager who works a store in Centennial Hills and he referred me to his district manager who could give me a list of store openings

After several days of trying and being unable to get through I finally spoke with the Smith's District Manager today and told her about my relocation plans and where I am currently working. She told me she would "refer my application to the right hands and that it will be distributed to every Smith's location" in the Valley. I'm not getting my hopes up too high but hopefully a position will come up.

Anybody here shop at Smiths? Or work there? Opinions

I do most of my shopping at Smiths or Liborio. Both are nice stores and I believe Smiths pays fairly well. I also shopped for years at Smiths when I lived in Utah. Good luck!

I like Smiths. It's a good store with reasonable prices. However, there are a lot of stores in the valley, and depending on where you live, if they are referring your application all over the valley, you could end up living on one end and working on the other, resulting in a long commute. Say living in Henderson, and working in Centennial Hills. Or vice versa. That's quite a drive with heavy traffic depending on days and times between there and Henderson.
So your best bet would be to get hired at one and live close to it. But just make sure it's an area you want to live in or feel safe in.

Davie - I dont post very often but always check in and see whats going on. I've been reading your posts and hope you will give LV a try. On my 23rd birthday I moved to San Francisco, already had a job, didnt know anyone, but wanted to give the 'big city' a try. I've never regretted it. Even if you fall flat on your face, years later you will look back on it as something you needed to do -- and did -- instead of looking back with regret at never having tried it. You're young -- dream, live, enjoy life!

I'm retired now and moved to LV because of the desert, the strip, and I got a house I could never afford in CA. I love it here, and hope you will too even though our experiences are very different now. But I'll tell you those 7 years I lived in San Francisco still make me smile!! I moved into a studio apartment with a view of the neighbor's kitchen! But the cable cars ran right outside my apartment.

That being said, I love Smiths. It's a little more expensive than Walmart for groceries, but I always buy my meats there. They have a great bakery and deli that I love. They are also very big on customer service -- the clerks are very friendly and they help you to your car and take your shopping cart, etc. I know this sounds like an everyday thing, but they go the extra mile. And the people working there seem happy also, joking with each other, you know?

Best of luck . . .

Hopefully you get a job at the Smiths at 2385 East Windmill. This is where I always shop when I get off of work in the morning. The people who work there are very friendly and happy, and it is in a very nice area (unlike where I live).

Love Smiths! Do most of my shopping there, same store actually for years. Most of the same employees that know their customers.

I'd say the prices are comparable to Albertson's or Von's, but I would rate Smith's weekly specials - the ones through its shoppers card - better. I usually shop at the one at Trop and Jones, which has several self-checkout machines, most than most other stores. That's another nice convenience.

I completely agree. The one at on east Windmill ONLY has self checkout machines running in the morning which is the opposite of most other places, like the Walmart on Warm Springs and Eastern. I quit going there because they have all the self checkouts shut down, and only ONE cashier with a line behind it. When I get off work at 6:30 AM, I really do not want to interact with anyone, or wait in a line. Walmart has lost my business because of this. I drive a mile out of my way to got to the Smiths.
