Well my wife and I will be arriving to Vegas tomorrow from Costa Rica. I have a job interview setup for Tuesday and if all goes well will be looking for a place later in the week for a move in July. I wanted to thank everyone here for all the great info. We will be busy but will have time for a little fun. Does anyone know of anything going on this week that is can't miss? We are staying at the Orleans and will have a car. We are definately going to Hoover dam one day and to Red Rock one day and are open to any other suggestions or recommendations for some lunch spots on those 2 trips.

May and October are busy months for local outdoors activities. The San Gennaro Feast starts Wednesday and lasts until Sunday. It takes over a big empty lot at I-215 and Flamingo Road. Welcome to San Gennaro Feast - Las Vegas, NV

The ArtFest of Henderson takes over several blocks of beautiful downtown Henderson this weekend. Henderson Lives ArtFest (http://www.hendersonlive.com/special-events/artfest - broken link)

The 76th Elks Helldorado Days celebration and rodeo is May 13 - 16, but some things have already started. There's a parade downtown on Sat. May 15 at 7pm. 2010 Helldorado Days Schedule (http://www.elkshelldorado.com/eventschedule.html - broken link)

Do you want a big lunch or light lunch, something on the Strip, or a neighborhood place that locals like best?

We would like to eat at some local places to get a feel for the area. We already have some strip stuff planned out. I heard there was an interesting bbq place in the town on the way to red rocks and a nice place to have lunch on lake mead but don't know the names of them. Thanks for the info. We arrive today and leave Sunday.

That's where it was last year and the past few years, in an empty lot bounded by Kohl's, Sears, and JC Penney. It's moved again. This year it's at the Silverton on Blue Diamond.

Yeah, I saw that on a poster yesterday. Last time I was at the shopping center at 215 and Flamingo they still had a lot of stuff there like it was coming back. It's been in more locations than a drunken tourist lost on the Strip. I'm glad the Greek Food Festival has a permanent place now.

Heyyyyyy. What did they do with spelchkr???

I seldom do lunch, but for breakfast I'd recommend Mack Bros. They have lunch but I don't know anything about it. Las Vegas has a tradition of 24 hr breakfasts because of the three shifts, and tourists that stay out all night.

Home : Mack Bros Bakery Cafe
