Hi! My fiance and I are just about to purchase a home off of Brooksite drive in Smithtown. the homes over there have sewer drains put into their driveway. taht sturck me as odd. the homeowner said its just a precaution. so my question for you guys... does anyone feel this might be weird? have you heard of flooding or high water tables in this area of smithtown?

Check with local histories of flooding. Some areas of Smithtown are very prone to it.

I don't think that area has a water problem. A drywell is for drainage. Are you at the bottom of a hill? If it is an exceptionally large driveway, it may require a drywell by code. If the water table was high, all the well would do is fill up with ground water.

its not the bottom of a hill and doesnt have a large driveway. It is also not a code.

To be more specific, is that property a low point compared to the surrounding properties?

It appears to be flat. It is near Blydenburgh park and a pond if that helps at all?
