My neighbor had a crew of 5 and a mini-bulldozer out at 3:00 in the morning making a ton of noise (I live in West Hills, Huntington). This has been going on for a few years and I've never said a word.

However..... This morning when I was hand shoveling out my driveway, he opened up his window and yelled at me about shoveling my snow into the street (the plows were still coming by, therefore pushing it off to the side). I didn't appreciate the jerkoff yelling at me and it might be time for me to report him for waking up my entire family everytime it snows......

A couple of years ago NCPD told us to stop clearing some of our commercial buildings abutting a residential neighborhood by 10 or 11pm. A Nassau Legislator's neighborhood.

Maybe a county ordinance, maybe town, maybe village or none by you. Maybe just commercial properties?

Where does one look this type of information up?

Normally I let people live life as they need to, but this guy yelling at me for shoveling my driveway was way over the top.

Call the town - ask for the code compliance office and report the guy. They'll probably tell you to call the police the next time it happens. Then do it. Don't hesitate. This guy stopped being neighborly when he moved in. Sounds like you have a self-involved jerk for a neighbor.

There are noise ordinances and work hours in every area...

However it is illegal to put snow in the street EVERYWHERE....

As this clown was opening up his window - I would have made sure I carefully timed a release of a shovel full of show in his direction - message sent. LMAO!

does this apply just to Long Island towns? Because I know for example in Brooklyn they do it all the time... nowhere else to put it... can't throw much on the sidewalk... and no grass strip areas.

I can't stand people who think nothing of throwing the snow in the street. I've seen a car hit someone's snow pile and skid out. Why not be a man and work a little harder to put the snow somewhere else?

I use an old 737 jet engine mounted to my pick up truck and blow the snow in to the street. Works great for leaves too.
