Salisbury is a hamlet in the Town of Hempstead and Westbury is a village in the Town of North Hempstead, and, more importantly, according to New York State, hamlets can not be part of a village and vice versa.

Oftentimes, the MLSLI.com lists a place's location by the community named in that place's mailing address, which is, more often than not, different from the city, village or hamlet where that place is actually located.

You can find out in which community (city, village or CDP) a place is actually located, which is oftentimes different from the community named in that place's mailing address, by using the Census Bureau's online address search function. (CDP or Census Designated Place is the Census Bureau equivalent for a hamlet in Nassau and Suffolk Counties.)

Hope it's not geography that you teach.

Except for Long Beach, which is a city, all the other communities in your list are villages and hamlets, not cities and towns.

NYS Geographic Glossary and Excellent Long Island Geographic Resource may be of some help to you in understanding the geography of "Lawn Guyland".

Honestly, I don't care! The general population of the board knew what I was talking about.

But I will give you credit, the hope you don't teach geography comment was priceless. Lol

We moved here two years ago and LOVE it. Everyone is nice and it is a very neighborly community. It is right off the Wantagh Pkwy. If you go to the MLSLI website and put Westbury and East Meadow schools it will pop up and give you many affordable homes. Good luck and feel free to email me if you have questions about the neighborhood. I also teach in the East Meadow district and I would not live in a district that I would not send my own children to. Many residents are police officers and despite being on the other side of Old Country Rd. from New Cassel, it is a very safe neighborhood.
Yes to EM, and I would add Levittown, echo Hicksville Ladibug . Also, if any few starter homes come up in Plainview and Bethpage. These are all a short drive to Farmingdale.

"Amity Harbor" is a little more than 6 minutes to Republic...it's about 12 minutes.

Massapequa is big, I'm not sure if you're including North Massapequa and Massapequa Park.
N. Mass is 5 minutes from the airport and parts of Mass Park are about 5 minutes.

With gas prices at $4 and climbing again and all the good inventory out there, I'd eliminate anything that's over 20 minutes drive to Fdale.

Very true. East Massapequa is also ~5 minutes to Republic Airport. I get funny looks sometimes when I say East Massapequa. The people there swear they are in Mass Park or "Massapequa".

Going by those eliminations, you'd probably wanna nix Glen Cove, Patchogue... possibly Bohemia, Hicksville & Lindenhurst too.
