Hello,

Currently I live in Huntington and am looking to buy a house or a Condo. (pref a house). I am planning on moving out of Huntington because I feel that it is very overpriced and I wont be able to find anything here on my budget. (and the Station is not an option)

So... Thinking South Shore this time and probably Nassau County or western Suffolk County. As far as what I am looking for, basically Huntington (restaurants, bars, shopping, demographics, at least within close proximity), but on the south shore, but cheaper. I understand it might not be as good or the same, but close.

Couple other things to keep in mind. Need to be able to drive to Farmingdale Republic Airport within 45 mins any time, day or night. (so Long Beach is prob out)

So if anyone could reply with some cities to look at it would help with my search.

Thanks

Farmingdale is a good suggestion, or how about Lindenhurst? Lindenhurst has a cute little village (nothing like Huntington, but still...) and is much more affordable than Huntington. Possibly West Babylon (close to Babylon Village but more affordable for the most part) and easy access to Republic Airport via 109/110

thought about it, I will take a look around there.

Just trying to come up with about 5 cities to start off with and then work down to about 3 from there.

On south shore Nassau, there are some buys in the $300K range in Bellmore, Wantagh, Seaford, Massapequa. These are all small starter homes, and not bad drive to Farmingdale.

It would help if you posted what you're looking to spend, the amount of space you're looking for, and whether schools matter.

Why I didnt list a price, is because im looking for a house or condo that will need a Total update, so that kinda throws things off.

Schools are not very important to me as far as selection is concerned.

More concerned with:

-Younger age groups 20-30's
-Bars, restaurants, shopping (at least in area)
-Good neighborhood (not interested in constantly looking over my shoulder when I come and go in the middle of the night)

Actually your budget is necessary. A house needing a total update is going to cost you about $600K in Garden City, probably a lot less in other towns you mention. THere are a couple on the market right now being sold "as is" - one doesn't even have all its appliances working and it's totally overgrown with vegetation. Asking low $600Ks. Is that in your budget?
