Just curious, why spend extra time plus money on gas by going as far as Sayville, when Huntington, or possibly Babylon and maybe even Farmingdale are so much closer???
Housing stock is a tad better/easier to get in the Sayville area. Tad cheaper as well. Farmindale and Bablyon and Huntington all have village taxes that get translated somehow in to your rent.

Sayville also is quainter if you are looking for more not so crowded feel. There's parks with walking distance of the downtown shopping, the train station is away but near, etc....

Huntington Village is a colloquial village; hence no village taxes there.

I agree 100% with the above. I use to live in Farmingdale for 20yrs.. Taxes in Farmingdale are higher than Sayville/Oakdale. (I guess because 1/2 is Suffolk & 1/2 is Nassau County). I am one town over from Sayville. Oakdale (next to Sayville) is real nice too!

Huh?

The Village of Farmingdale is solely in the Town of Oyster Bay, Nassau County.

What confuses folks is that the "Farmingdale, NY 11735" ZIP Code postal zone is partly in the Town of Oyster Bay, Nassau County and partly in the Town of Babylon, Suffolk County and that the Village of Farmingdale is one of those many villages and hamlets on Long Island where the majority of the places with the community name as part of their mailing address are not in the community.

Places that have a "Farmingdale, NY 11735" mailing address that are not in the Village of Farmingdale are in the Hamlet of South Farmingdale and the Hamlet of Plainedge, as well as in the Hamlet of Old Bethpage in the Town of Oyster Bay, Nassau County and in the Hamlet of East Farmingdale and the Hamlet of Wyandanch in the Town of Babylon, Suffolk County.

I think the point he was trying to make is that taxes in general are higher in Nassau than in Suffolk.

The OP stated that they didnt necesarily want to be around a large Indian population, which is why they were leaning against Hicksville. While Hicksville does have a significant Indian population, I wouldnt call it overwhelming.

Why is Huntington the only place to live if as you say "a life is important"?
