I don't know too much about Farmigville, but I grew up in Farmingdale. I've lived in other places in the state, and I have to say that Farmigdale, inasmuch as it's a very working class type of town, is awesome. The schools were great, there's an awesome village and sense of community, though of course it has its bad parts like any town does.

Anyway, I've thought about Farmingville just because I can't afford most of Nassau County homes.

Farmingville is a hamlet (unincorporated community) in the center part of the Town of Brookhaven, in the center part of Suffolk County.

The Hamlet of Farmingville has a different border than does the "Farmingville, NY 11738" postal zone (i.e., a place can have a Farmingville mailing address and not be in Farmingville and a place can have other than a Farmingville mailing address and be in Farmingville):

Those places that have a "Farmingville, NY" mailing address that are not in the Hamlet of Farmingville are in the Hamlet of Centereach, the Hamlet of Selden and the Hamlet of Holtsville; and, at the same time, there are places in the Hamlet of Farmingville with a "Centereach, NY 11720" and a "Holtsville, NY 11742" mailing address.

Farmingdale is a village (incorporated in 1904) in the southeast part of the Town of Oyster Bay, in the east part of Nassau County (along the Oyster Bay/Babylon town line and the Nassau/Suffolk County line).

Farmingdale is one of those many villages and hamlets on Long Island where the majority of the places that have the community's name as part of their mailing address are not in the village: there are places that have a "Farmingdale, NY 11735" mailing address that are in the Hamlet of South Farmingdale and the Hamlet of Plainedge in the Town of Oyster Bay, Nassau County and in the Hamlet of East Farmingdale and the Hamlet of Wyandanch in the Town of Babylon, Suffolk County.

Many (and, that includes NEWSDAY) are very surprised when they find out that while the Village of Farmingdale is in the Town of Oyster Bay, Nassau County, the majority of places that have a "Farmingdale, NY" mailing address are in the Hamlet of East Farmingdale, Town of Babylon, Suffolk County.
