The cop should not have done what he did. Notice at the end of the video his back up, a second officer was trying to get him to leave. Look at it on the left side of the video. I understand the kid was just a drunk jerk, but if you're going to have to use force just lock him up and be done with it.
There is no reason cops can't all have body cams, it would help keep abuse to a minimum and clear up debates on what really happened. The cop was wrong, he did act very unprofessional. While its easy to get upset and use the f-word, he puts himself on the level of just another thug by acting that way. I understand how it happens especially with some loud mouth jerks, but it doesn't help his case any here. If you put your hands on someone its to keep them back or to arrest them. It would be nice to have seen the entire altercation. How much had the guy smarted off to the cop, how in the face did he get with him? We don't know that. Even at that, the cops behavior was not professional. He isn't a bouncer at a sleazy club, though thats more how he acted. This guy may well be a known criminal and some cops don't have much tolerance with that sort at all. And I can't blame them for that, but either arrest him or keep it to threats of keeping it down or he will be back to arrest him without the body language he used. I would tend to think this cop probably has a short fuse anyway. I was a cop myself and I've seen some that would actually escalate rather than calm a situation just by their presence.
Wrong. This country has gone "downhill" as you call it when discipline and consequence were replaced with complacency, acceptance and diversity.
While I agree with you to a certain degree, regarding the consequences of actions, acceptance and complacency among the public. I don't think rogue cops that use their badge and gun as this officer is doing do anything but muck things up further. I fully understand feelings of anger toward certain criminals and the failure of the system. Still cops that can not maintain their composure, think rationally and logically in delicate and tense situations are also failures to the system, the public at large and can put their brother officers lives in danger.
Watching the video again, the cop really didn't do very much to the guy besides swear at him.
