To play the devil's advocate, it could also be argued that Nassau's ridership is spread across more stations. Honestly, either you or sirtiger could be correct-- I'm just stirring the pot

Sirtigr claimed that peak tickets were going to be $15 soon. I said they already are in the the commmute zones (up to zone 10)
just a random thought.....as bad as LI commute is....NJ has it even worse. NJT cost more, NJ r/e tax is more, more tolls and they have an even bigger driving culture.
Of all the LIRR experience, this year is by far the worst in regards to quality of service.....and PW line is the one with the least fleas

Not if you take the PATH train. It's a lot cheaper than LIRR. With the PATH train, it actually makes several stops in Manhattan so many people don't have to also take the subway or the bus to get to their work ... unlike LIRR which only goes to Penn or MetroNorth which only goes to Grand Central.

People who dont live near the PATH have to get to it first.

true....to me everything on the Path is almost an extensions from Manhattan...sorta like an outer boro of nyc. The prices of r/e of places like Hoboken reflect that as well.
When I was living in Baldwin, I actually traveleed to NYC everyday. I go to NYC twice a month due to the high fares on the LIRR going from Riverhead to Penn, Riverhead to ENY, and Riverhead to Jamaica.
