Considering Plainview and Syosset. Have a budget in the 600s for a 4 bdrm, 2 bath. We are secular Jews and would like to be in a neighborhood that has a decent sized Jewish population, but isn't snobby or excessively wealthy. Would either of these areas be a good fit? I've heard that Plainview is becoming popular with Indian families. Is this true?

Plainview and Syosset are great school districts and have large Jewish communities. Idk about Indians in Plainview, but there's a large community in Hicksville. South Merrick is another nice area to consider. Good luck.

More Indians in Jericho I believe. Plainview and Syosset would work with your criteria. Just keep an eye out for taxes. If 15 minutes east is an option in Suffolk then Dix Hills also has a sizable Jewish population.

Real estate taxes tend to be higher in Plainview although there is a bit more inventory.
Not all properties have garages if that's on your wish list. Do you have a preference with regard to what style house you're looking for? Colonial? Cape? Ranch? How big a parcel do you want? All these things might determine where you end up

I feel like Plainview has tons of splits. I know a few ppl who live in Plainview-- everyone has a split and lives on a block of splits.
There are Indians in Plainview but not a large population. "Becoming popular", yes.
