Alec Baldwin may be a native but he's nobody's favorite son, I'm sure.
Billy Joel may not have been born on LI but he's a Lier through and through. He lived in Huntington when I was growing up and people used to run into him all the time and he was a regular guy (including me, waited on him and Christie a couple times, no putting on of airs at all....in fact one time my friend refused to serve him as we were closing up shop and he was like "oh, ok"....no "do you know who I am" although I told her shortly after he walked away LOLOL).
Christie was randomly in my elevator a few months ago.
I met Billy Joel once years ago at a diner in Greenport. Got his autograph. I was like 15 years old at the time. I also met Dee Snider. He's very cool and very nice. We were on the same ferry ride going to CT. Alex Baldwin is a putz, never liked him as an actor. I think Billy Joel is as much of Long Islander as anyone else. But seriously does it really matter?
You dont like 30 Rock? That show was funny. He played his role well on that.

bahaha. This is your attempt at knocking LI down a peg? What's really amusing is when the ex-pats try to take cheap shots to make themselves feel superior but end looking pretty stupid in the process.
Simple observation that I find amusing, similar to your giggle about this post of mine I guess. Considering you can't name anyone of significance (just like everyone else), proves the point.
So, there's no way to be "knocking LI down a peg" when there's nothing to support them being up any pegs to start with when it comes to this subject... LI hasn't produced a born and bred "rainmaker" on any level. Plenty of middle to upper mediocrity in the entertainment industry and, like I said previously, plenty of high end tourists enjoying a handful of towns - but that doesn't make them a product of LI.
You can't concede this because then your mental superiority slips I guess. Have to wonder, is it more stupid to point out a simple fact or to ignore the fact and deflect with an attack on the source? Hard to tell these days.
Boring. I'm not sure Liverpudlians make as big a deal about the Beatles as Long Islanders do about Billy Joel.
such a dumb take on a trivial matter. How exactly do Long Islanders "make a big deal" about Billy Joel? Other than, you know, be fans of his music? You're just being willfully dense because you don't like his music.
Billy has OK songs and had decent marketing during his rise to stardom, but let's be real. The best musicians from LI are, and will forever be, John Petrucci, Joe Satriani, and Steve Vai.
