I dont get how any of them can get licenses if they are as strict with documentation...like we need everything unexpired, and original etc ...what do these people possibly have as equivalent proof of identity.
They are not getting the real or enhanced, just the basic license.
This is not true. You need to be a US citizen to be able to register to vote. I mean maybe in the case of your grandmother, sometime it happens, but the whole point of this is not for them to be allowed to vote.
I'm all for it. The way I see it, they're already driving anyway. Now they have to take classes and pass the test so they will be safer drivers b/c of it.
Many people think if you have a license then that entitles you to vote. No, it doesn't.
They don’t ask for ID when you vote, who is going to cross reference that they’re a citizen once they have a DMV number, which by the way, is all you need to register to vote in NY. Yeah, I’m sure they won’t get on the voting roster

All immigrants are legal and documented. Its the illegal aliens that are a problem. Get into a car accident with an illegal alien , and you'll have the nightmare of having to sue your own insurance company to cover all the expenses!
Not sure where you got that information, since it is patently false. In New York, you only need a driver’s license to register to vote and applicants are required to "swear" that they are eligible to vote, it’s basically an honor system. what happened is now the state gets to surcharge everyone else in the state for an enhanced license since the standard one isn't worth a @#$ now and can't be used on flights, etc.
I have grown fully cynical of all actions of this state and believe it is 100% to get at least a certain amount of these folks on the voter rolls. Just a few percent can sway elections. I mean, come on, they recently pushed through voting rights for convicted felons in NY.

Bingo! You need to answer ONE of the three. DMV #, last four of social, OR I don’t have either of these. These are the three options.
They also don’t need a social security number to get their drivers license now. An international passport or a drivers license from another country will satisfy the requirement. How NY can determine that these are real documents and not made up ones is beyond me.
Can’t wait to see what disasters this brings. But don’t worry, illegals don’t vote!
Exactly.
Now we'll pay twice, because we already pay for uninsured drivers via the supplemental coverage.
Now they'll raise rates due to some BS risk increase index excuse or something stupid like that.
If you have no residence status not even tourist visa how can you get permission to operate a motor vehicle
