In a move that has taken some Covid-watchers by surprise, Andy writes earlier today:

We simply cannot stay closed until the vaccine hits critical mass. The cost is too high. We will have nothing left to open. We must reopen the economy, but we must do it smartly and safely.

Andrew Cuomo
@NYGovCuomo

The timing is interesting to say the least.

He must have been given the Heisman by the incoming Biden Administration on his bailout idea.

Open the doors and smoke pot. NY needs the cash.

I guess the curve has been flattened enough?

Typical inconsistent Cuomo handling of the pandemic. He talked so much he forgot his own rules and disregarded the science he claimed to follow so closely.

Just like Nancy went with a lower stimulus days after Biden won the election after holding out for months. Follow the science? Cases are hitting all time highs and deaths are hitting daily records. But let’s open now. Can anyone take them serious ?

He was going to shut down with the new strand weeks ago saying it would take 40 weeks to hit Herd immunity with vaccines. Now we don’t care ?

NY is at an all time high for new cases.

https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/...rus-cases.html

Had the fool of a governor followed the other states and reopened in June the state could have had several months of economic activity before the latest surge.

Instead, it will be devastating. Probably no recovery until 2022 or 2023. And now Cuomo knows that Manchin won’t vote for massive more stimulus dollars to bail out his bad decisions.

Cuomo is smoking the reefer and is the biggest flip flopper I have ever seen in my life. Can’t believe he left Buffalo have fans for the playoff game.

No surprise. He, along with liberal left wing political scum in major cities across the country, used us as pawns to suppress the Trump economy. Now it's safe to open? Puhlease.

He’s saying this cause he finally realizes his dream bailout isn’t happening. Most importantly he Just learned that you aren’t able to raise taxes on businesses that have no income because they are closed. No seriously Cuomo didn’t know you can’t generate sales tax without sales!

I looked at the risks, took a few precautions and did crazy things like go out to eat, go to the gym and even took two vacations. I know that I can catch this and there is a slight chance it could be bad, but that’s true for anything.
So Cuomo played New Yorkers for suckers and became a national celebrity for doing it. I bet he gets re-elected.

So let me make sure I get the right-wing talking points straight. Chairman Cuomo locked down last year because he's a Commie dictator who was hoping for a Biden victory and a yuge bailout. Then when the Democrats stole the Presidential election and the Georgia runoff elections, making Chuck Schumer the next Senate majority leader, Chairman Cuomo realized the bailout ain't happening and thus flip-flopped to reopening?
