Hello. I am buying a small home in manhasset and trying to find out if the town uses well water or city water. Is there any way to find this out? I seem to hear conflicting info

In Nassau County, all water is from aquifers and there is no such thing as city water. If it will make you feel any better, you can call Nassau County Dept of Health and they will answer all your concerns. I am personal friends with one of the commissioners on the local water district and spent hours working on presentations for him.
Thanks! Aquifer is not “well” water though, right? I heard/read of dangers of having a house that has a well underneath it somewhere where it gets the water from.

Stop reading and educate yourself. I gave you your answer I will not do the work for you. Google: Nassau County, NY Public Water Supply
Lots of older houses do have wells, and you may see piping and/or big heavy storage tanks in the basement if they haven't been removed already. 99/100 times they are abandoned and the house is connected to the municipal supply.
