On one hand, as Newsday reports:
"People with pot convictions to get first crack at dispensary licenses".
The same day, Newsday also reports:
"THC sold at Nassau smoke shops, six arrested, police say".
Are six lucky smoke shop employees now gonna get a first crack at selling legal weed on Long Island?
It's mind boggling. Reefer madness. Times ten.
Time for another glass of wine [LOL].

I read that and said to myself "you need another cup of coffee".
Thanks for clarifying. I guess people with convictions are considered experts in the trade.
I agree with this, but it IS illegal, So lets reward the idiots that break the law
Honestly who would want to get into that line of work when the gov can come raid you at any time? If they want to take that chance let them. The Feds need to make marijuana the same as cigarettes and call it a day. The whole thing is stupid. People losing jobs over it. Come on.

I have zero problem with ppl losing jobs over marijuana bc i dont use it so thats a job i could have over someone who does do it.
I get it. This is the State's way of making some restitution to people who were previously convicted of offenses that are no longer state crimes, and the stigma or restrictions they probably faced following it.
As stated elsewhere, these groups probably have the content knowledge that other locals don't, meaning that there's more of a chance of permits being obtained by local people instead of large companies from out of state.
Definitely being pushed as more Reefer Madness, as if the State is inviting the Cartel to come in and run stores.
