forget FL. I am thinking bigger picture….maybe internationally. Medical cost isn’t cheap. If SS fails, there seems to be less reason to stay in USA anymore. Military protection?
You most certainly cannot blast them for being in your house in NY. You better know every angle of the law, before you fire on an intruder. In NY, chances are you'll be the one remanded.
I'm glad you like Florida. Enjoy. I lived in Florida and hated it. Nassau County isn't my favorite place on earth, but I will take it over Florida. I begrudgingly visit that wet fart of a state every few years to see my father. It's OK for a few days, but I'm never sad to head back north.
"Is Nassau county the worst place in America to live?"
Nope. After all, it does border Queens/NYC.
Ironically, Nassau County used to be part of Queens until a little over 120 years ago. The eastern towns of Queens - Hempstead, North Hempstead and Oyster Bay - did not join the City of Greater New York and instead retained their independence as Nassau County. Best decision ever.

It’s all fun and games until the city tries to annex the suburbs to get the tax money (and rub our noses in blessed diversity). And with the single-party ruling Democrats becoming more unhinged every year, it’s just a matter of time before they do.

That can't happen due to incorporation of towns throughout the state. That is why cities across the state are relatively small in land area compared to cities in many other states, which can annex unincorporated land/communities.
