We would be Gilead AKA Trumpistan. That's actually what the supporters want. A Putin like dictatorship . Make no mistake if they would have gotten to the VP and other leaders in Congress I'm convinced there would have been a massacre . This would have resulted in a vaccum of power and a new age of fascism .

Me too, but were they really stopped? Folks are still being conned despite over 60 failures of Mr. Trump & his allies, including the Proud Boys & the Oath Keepers, to enlist the courts to overturn 2020 presidential election results.
What would have prevented the “mostly peaceful protest” is if Mr. Trump would have forced Vice-President Mike Pence to resign, he could have then installed a genuine lackey like Mark Meadows et al, & set up the formal disruption of the count of electoral votes.
Ignoring the facts of what happened LEADING UP TO and ON Jan 6th is insanity... comparing the insurrection to any protest / riot in the entire history of this country based on what it cost dollar wise is completely missing the point... just plain obtuse. Groups of protesters have smashed, looted, and burned property all the day long through history, but never in any briefest of moment did any of them come close to disrupting the function of the highest level of our government and almost stop the transition of the administration... incited and led by the shyster of all shysters... open your eyes.
I would say let the ballot box talk... but when you have convinced a swath of mouth breathers not to believe the media, that their deity was "robbed" of his crown, and that the coming election is already decided, there isn't much to be done... I only hope you don't get what you deserve for blindly following a person whose only goal is power.

How are you sure if your facts are really facts? At this point if you aren't fact checking every source you're just believing what's being told by a biased source from one side or the other.
