I agree that Huntington Station isn't so bad, but you should have picked a different BK neighborhood. Brooklyn Heights is one of the most expensive and safest hoods in NYC.

Even for Long Island standards, there are a lot of better places than Huntington Station.
I would recommend West Hills or South Huntington (anything South of Jericho Tpke)...you have decent schools and live in a reasonably safe area. Avoid anything north of Pulaski Rd and you probably won't regret your purchase.
The downtown area of Huntington Station is legit sketchy...the areas served by South Huntington school district are nicer than the ones served by Huntington.

I beg to differ! Too much generalizing going on here. How many of you have actually lived in the area??? Or live in the area now???

I live in West Hills right now. I'm talking about the area over by the train station being sketchy which I believe is Huntington school district rather than South Huntington school district.

You are right that the area near the train station is Huntington SD, rather than South Huntington. It's interesting, though. I have heard some people express a preference for each school district. So, I guess people should do their own homework.

True. I'll admit a slight bias though since I'm way more familiar with the South Huntington SD than the Huntington SD. Huntington does have some really nice areas like Huntington Bay- but IMO the South Huntington area is better overall.

How true!
I have buyers who refuse to even look in SD 13 (So. Hunt) and the same for SD 3 (Hunt). It all depends on what you're looking for.
That's why generalizations don't help anyone who is looking for something specific.
