So my friend was driving on the 495 yesterday in Nassau and sees an MTA Bus driving and on the electronic billboard (where it normally would say what station it is going to, it says "CALL 911" or something of that nature. So she calls the police and tells them. But nothing on News 12 or newsday about it. When I asked her if she passed the bus and looked at the driver to see if he was ok, she said it was a new bus and had tinted windows. Way to go MTA for putting tinted windows in a bus.

If anyone finds a story about that, post it here.

hmm id want to believe that is the case but why would a bus start putting signs up for emergency when its really not? Cant they "test" it some other way?

That absolutely cannot be the case - it would be an abuse of the 911 system to do that. You can't tie up the 911 system by "testing" it with something like that on a bus... it would take time away from 911 operators trying to help people in real emergencies.

I saw this message on a bus in Charlotte on UNCC's campus this morning on my way to work, while i was "ON HOLD" with 911 I passed a police office and honked them down, they went in pursuit of the bus I'm still waiting for a story to be published explaining what happened. It was scary I really do hope it wasn't JUST A TEST.

I've seen both - test and malfunction.

And if it was a test, I would love to know the name of the imbecile who approved this "test".

I don't believe it was a test, though.... I've seen this on many buses and have called '911' to let the police know.
