Here is a list from newsday, granted its from 2005, so 3 years later, increase by about 3% a year gives you $80,000 avg. salary with avg teaching age of 14 years, and only half of teachers at Masters+30 or above.
So how could 3/4 be making over 100k. Doesn't add up.
What's a little exaggeration on the internet? It's not like there's any pressure for anyone to say anything accurate.
So if the percentile for LI teachers is wrong, what makes you think that the percentiles for a teacher in Bethesda Md are right when they say 62K? I get it now!!!! ..the people at salary.com are.....in cahoots with the EVIL TEACHERS UNIONS ON LI!!!!!????

Please point us to where we can search the actual salaries of the public school teachers in your examples. I think we will find that proportionately there are many more teachers in your LI example who earn well above "the 75th percentile" of 63K than there are teachers in Bethesda MD earning "the 75th percentile" of 62K and above.

longislandschools.com has a breakdown of the average teacher salary according to school districts. it also has information on present school district budgets, if they passed/failed, and average salaries for other employees of the district, i.e., the superintendent, the principals, asst. principals, so on.
no specifics on who exactly makes what but for each school district the name of the superintendent and their office phone number is provided, for those who would like to investigate further.

start 05-06 contract
increase 1 year 06-07
increase 2 year 07-08
increase 3 year 08-09 (now) ... 3 years of contract increases
even still it would be ballpark the same, $82,000 not 3/4 making over 100k.
Are you claiming newsday to be biased in favor of teachers? since when?
I have posted the district lists many times in my prior posts, and seethruNY has a database to get actual salaries
I have seen current gross salary lists for all of long island. Including all the administrators (and there are a huge number of them, more than you might think, there is a lot of fat there) about 1/3 of all the employed people make over 100k ... so if you looked at just the teachers its an even smaller amount and many of them are many years into the system
The point is people like to exaggerate here and think more than half of LI teachers are pulling in a six figure salary, which is not true. And then it becomes comical because these same people will jump to another thread and claim you have to make 6 figures to 'make it' in long island. I guess these people think teachers should be struggling to teach here.

its approximate, but pretty standard in districts. districts generally get similar percentage raises across the board and communicate these numbers. I have a list of all nassau districts and the percentage raises are between 2-4% from 05 thru 08 with 3 to 3-1/4 near average most likely
