But if you are seeking exclusivity, a super-sound investment, and a neighborhood that is best equipped to resist the forces of decline in surrounding areas, I think you should go with GC. Also, there are areas of RVC that aren't just that visually appealing, like the streets near Long Beach Rd (I think that's the area). And RVC has the project, and also meshes too closely with really ordinary places like Oceanside, in my opinion. They kind of blend together at some point. GC has none of that. Like another poster said, it really is like somebody drew a line between it and everything else. I feel very insulated when I'm there, despite the proximity of some not-so-great places. I don't quite feel that way in RVC. Oh, and my friends in RVC have been burglarized, too. I think the police in GC are more on top of things. So it depends on what you want. I know that diversity is very important to some; they would probably be not too happy in GC. But if you want stability and no surprises, GC is the way to go.

RVC hands down! Especially area with RVC schools. Great downtown, great restaurants, movie theater, great diners. Babylon line for LIRR is very good service.

I agree...RVC is a great town with reliable / inexpensive utilities, wonderful sense of community, excellent shops and restaurants. And the train ride is 35 minutes express / 45 local. It's a snap.

if money was no object, I'd probably go with GC. You can get bigger homes/property there. But a million or 750k or whatever will likely get you a nicer place in RVC than it will in GC.

Living in GC was like living at the Alamo, the place is surrounded.
RVC was alot more fun downtown.
