It totally sounds like a suicide mission. It is so inconceivable to me that she would chug vodka, smoke pot while driving 3 hours to go home. It's not like she was on her way home from the bar (which would explain being drunk). There is just no way... I refuse to believe that a mother driving a van full of kids would do that. There's a lot missing from this story.
Wonder if they will talk to her esteemed employer??? Hard to understand that there were no signs, there were-people enabled her. Toxicology reprots are an exact science. Apparently vodka is the drink of choice because there is little smell.
For example, did her family know she was a pothead and a alcoholic? I can see the suicide theory but why bring the kids along as well? Why do it in such a public fashion killing your daughter, 3 nieces, 3 innocent people and severely injuring your son - would you just rather shoot/slash/hang yourself?
She might another version of the "family annihilator" (father kills family, then himself. Someone just did that in the Orlando area a couple of months ago). Maybe she was drinking the vodka to get the courage to do it?

Im sure's possible. Nobody drives almost 2 miles the wrong way unless they are totally toasted or intent on killing themselves.
It would be interesting in regards to what the son says when the NYSP investigators talk to him. Maybe he will be able to tell them the exact details of what went down. Poor kid must have been scared ****less. Now that's going to be a heartbreaking conversation, telling him half his family is dead and his mom is the killer

Did I just hear that Dominic Barbara (the Buttofuoco lawyer) was retained by the husband ? He supposedly said that there are major medical reasons why she would need to drink or something like that. What possible diagnosis would preclude the need to drink and drive on a highway with five children in the car?
Of course, he is holding a major news conference so that he will be able to maximize the publicity for himself.

That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard. Let's hope it doesn't work on a judge or jury.
It's going to be interesting to follow this story and see whether more information comes out. I have a feeling it's going to be in the news (at least on Long Island) for awhile.

Agreed, what bullcrap. There is no medical condition that justifies being an alcoholic and a drug addict.
does anyone know how the little boy is? My heart breaks for him, this will be with him the rest of his life. He is in my prayers everyday.
I don't know. All I can find is that he survived. They're so focused on what happened, nobody is reporting about him. Hopefully there is some good news for the kid.
