Have you seen that new Netflix series Big Picture with Kal Penn? They have a few statistics on drugs in episode 1.
- cocaine & meth arrests mostly in... Arizona.
- heroin highest per capita concentration in... Delaware. LI doesn't even register in the big picture. (pic 1 below)
- most drug infested state is... Vermont (due to ease of distribution along interstates)
- U.S. is the most drug-infested country in the world
Everyone I know that lives in So. Fla right now mention all the troubles with something called Flakka. Never once heard a problem with Flakka up here on LI. They say it causes people to run around naked in the streets acting all crazy & everything. Wonder why we never hear of that stuff up here. Yet? Hope we never do as we have enough problems already.
/\ figures Suffolk would have these cases. Drugs is a nationwide topic. Anyone that tries to deflect the severe problem LI is having with heroin by saying some rural towns have bigger problems is not being honest with himself.
Thanks! Never heard about it up here at all yet. In those articles they do mention So Fla. It is a HUGE problem down there . Friend of mines daughter lost 2 classmates to Flakka down there. It seems to have quieted down a little bit lately. But last year it erupted big time & was new daily for the 1st half of the year. People were walking around the street naked all the time! now that's a sight to see! One lady on it even came up to her car and went crazy! She only found out about it after damage & watching her home security camera to see what had happened. Was interesting to watch. Kind of scary at the same time. The woman acted like she was the HULK!! Trying to life up her car! Crazy stuff!
how exactly do you propose to do this? Turn the Cross Island Parkway into a moat? strip search everyone on the LIRR?
Once the heroin/coke/whatever makes it way to NY, that battle is already lost.
I already know what's coming next. Racial profiling. Never mind the fact that dealers come in all shapes sizes genders and races. The reason why we can't stop this scourge is because we are unwilling to vet everyone. We blame it on the OTHER. As long as the people look and act like me I won't say anything. That mentality leads to Walter White. And there are plenty of Walters in your neighborhood don't believe me? The family that killed the pharmacist for oxy a few years back were homeowners in a middle class neighborhood.
Heroin is bad on Long Island and getting worse. Don't think that your upscale neighborhood is immune. It is everywhere. Last night two druggies were arrested stealing from the local store. They came back the same week to rob again. One looked gaunt and emaciated. No these were not minorities. Yes, it happens in quite middle class neighborhoods.
im wondering if the people who try heroin know about the side effects before hand?
possible death, addiction and waking up sick unless you take methadone..
yes, heroin will turn your life into a living nightmare.
There are warnings on Alcohol and tobacco and yet people try those too. I am sure anyone who has tried any kind of illegal drug must know side effects but like some they are curious to try it. Some like the high they get others quit after the first hit. Also some addicts don't care about the side effects. I tried pot when I was younger smoked it 3 different times. Did not care for it and have not had it since. It's easy for us to preach about how bad heroine is but unless you have been addicted or know someone who's been addicted none of us can really judge.
