Hello,

Please advise whether the Islip is a good place to live. I am starting Law School this Fall in Central Islip, but I've head that Central Islip is not a nice area to live. I am planning to rent an apartment in private house south of Montauk in Islip. How is it there? I also have a 3 yr old son, are there a good day care facilities? Any input is appreciated.

CI is not very nice. West Islip and East Islip are quite nice. Depends what you are looking for, how much you can afford, how close you have to be to school, etc.

I could be wrong, but there's no "Islip" like you may be thinking. There's the Town of Islip, which includes a number of towns.

Town of Islip

Town of Islip

There is a town called Islip. Also East Islip, West Islip and Central Islip. Islip is a very nice town with a quaint downtown area which is very nice. Central Islip is the direct opposite. Take a look and then you can get your own opinion. But yes, you will be fine living in Islip. Just expect daycare to be $800per week for full time: 8-5. Yikes!!!

make sure you are renting a legal apartment.most houses are for a single family.ask your landlord for a certificate of occupancy for your apt. call the town give them the address and they will tell you if it is a legal apt.
