Is This the Best Burger in America? - Food on Shine

Anyone had this? Being a burger lover I'd like a local on the ground report.

of course this is subjective, but i read somewhere a while back that the father's office burger was the best in the country. i don't really care which is best, i just like the fact that we have so many great burger options here (umami, father's office, the counter, etc...)

That whole "you'll eat it our way" stuff puts me off. I love ketchup on a burger.

Umami Burger is pretty good, but I've had better burgers at Village Burger on the Big Island of Hawai'i.
Village Burger

This.

I took my own bottle of ketchup there on my last visit in an act of defiance.

Not serving ketchup with a burger and fries is un-American.

It's a very good burger, but not really the best IMO. I had the American burger (or something like that) and my wife had the chorizo burger. Mine was better; juicy and medium rare, but almost too wet. Fries and ketchup were good. Everything had a distinct taste; meaning there was something unique to the taste that I couldn't quite place, but it was good.

In any case there's a certain point where a lot of burgers are very very good. And really (without being over dramatic), like art, it can get very subjective.

Although there are a few ways to weed out certain burgers. Fast Food, Hole-in-the-wall fast food, Chain, Semi-Chain, Specialty Burger Joint, then a restaurant/bar that has a burger on the menu.

I've had most of the burgers in and around the L.A. area. And I became partial to Yuca's chili-cheese burger, Little Dom's Wood Grilled burger, and the Patty Wagon's Mood Indigo.

Father's Office Bar's burger in Santa Monica is often quoted as the best burger in L.A. and it is very good.

Now that I've moved back to the burbs, I'm stuck with burger joints like Jim's, Norms, in-and-out, five guys. But that really isn't a bad thing. And as far as chains go Island's Burgers are pretty decent.

The only burger that I want to try is a burger from the restaurant Comme Ça. It was mentioned as the best burger in Los Angeles by a few publications.

Make your own umami burger. Just throw on some MSG.

Umami is far from the best. Apple Pan and Father's Office are also just "good."

Of the well known burgers I've always thought the Counter is the best. You get to make your own burger 100%. And the meat is amazing. I'm a burger lover so I know what I'm talking about.

However the best burgers I've had typically tend to be at high end restaurants and steakhouses. I mean you're paying $18 for the burgers there, so they know what they're doing.

I'm not a huge burger person (but I like them), but the second best burger I've ever had (the first was in Austin, TX - 34th St Cafe) was at the Marmalade Cafe at The Grove. It was like biting into heaven!

My husband (who is a burger aficionado) said the burger at the Coral Cafe (Burbank) is the best burger he's had in LA.

We got burgers at Fuddruckers yesterday and they were really really good.

i forgot about the apple pan, talk about a hot mess! delicious burgers that get all over the place. i just hate having to wait for seats at the counter, especially when the group is more than 2-3 people.
