Hello!

Quick Question: I am in need of getting from downtown LA to the House of Blues in Hollywood tonight. I plan to leave downtown around 6:30pm and will need to be at the house of Blues by 7:30pm.

The kicker: I don't have a car.

Whats the best public transportation route? Bus? Metro? Subway?

Any info would be appreciated, thanks!

I'd drive to Hollywood and Highland. Park your car for free at the Red Line station. Take the Red Line to the Blue Line. Take the Blue Line to the Pico exit. Walk one block. Then you won't have to worry about traffic or paying an outrageous price to park.

If you insist on driving, either Sunset to the 101S to the 110S or Santa Monica Blvd to Western to Olympic.

I was hoping not to use a car at all. Could I just take the train from downtown there, or is that too much of a hassle?

The OP stated that they don't have a car and that they are going from downtown LA TO the House of Blues.

The best route would be to take the Metro Red Line towards North Hollywood and get off at Hollywood/Highland as was suggested. It's a fairly quick and painless ride and will drop you off right in the middle of things.

Any estimate how long of a trip that will be?

Also, will it be safe to head back home around 10 or 11 at night?

If we leave by 6:30, do trains come every 10 min like they do at rush hour?

to finish what danman started, after you get off at hollywood/highland you'll need to catch a cab. it will probably be about $15 or so from hollywood to the sunset strip where house of blues is located. another option if you're a walker is to walk down higland to sunset and catch the #2 bus. if you're not a walker your other option is to take the subway to sunset/vermont and hop on the #2 bus from there.

Wait, how many blocks is it? If we will be paying $15 for a cab anway, we might as well just park down there.

The simplest way is to catch the #2 bus downtown and take it directly to the house of blues. You can find the bus schedule here: http://www.metro.net/riding_metro/bu...es/002-302.pdf

Alternately, you could take the metro from downtown to Vermont/Sunset and then take the 2 bus the rest of the way. This might be slightly faster.

How long is the bus ride? I was hoping there would be an easy option, I don't really want to make a bunch of transfers and walking.
