Burger Continental (on S. Lake Ave.) has been closed due to health problems. If you look on Yelp, people were complaining about it. I'd rather not post a link because it's gross.

I never liked that place because it had a weird smell. The inside was a jumbled mess, like it was partly a banquet hall, partly a salad bar.

P.S. The McDonald's on Foothill Blvd. has been demolished so they can rebuild it.

P.P.S. Whole Foods has a great salad bar! Too bad it's $8.49 per pound. But it's discounted on Wednesdays.

Yeah I was never a huge fan of Burger Continental. They had a decent special for my school if you went there on Fridays, but I really don't know how its stayed in business for so long.

Sorry to hear this. It used to be a great restaurant; interesting, different and casual. And those bellydancers were unique. They served wonderful breakfasts and, of course, great burgers. It really declined over the past decade or so.

I saw the place when walking down Lake Ave and visiting the shops there, but never actually went inside.

I think they were referring to salad bar by the pound.

Anyhow, I like the salad bar at Ralphs but I will NEVER pay $7.99 per pound. you realize what a rip off it is once you put like a handful and end up paying like $7+ for something that would not fill up an average adult.

I go to Sprouts, pick up whatever I want and create my own kickarse salad for much cheaper instead!

When I read the title I thought that the place closed because it was too clean .

Like maybe they were using too many cleaning chemicals or something !

BC was an occasional visit back in the 1980's and was quite a good burger place because there just wasn't anything like it back then. Now, big, grown-up burgers of many varieties are ubiquitous from the major fast food chains to the $10 burger restaurants like Red Robin, Rubi's, Johnny Rockets, etc. I have to say, I noticed BC going downhill back in the 1980's. The burger was NOT good, and the seating was a bit dirtier than usual. I just got a bad feeling from the place and NEVER returned, as BC was always expensive, and In-N-Out was within my budget and not as grossly over large, but that place was always CLEAN, efficient and friendly. So, BC is now another former "institution" that has itself to blame for a bleak future. We are cruel in the metropolis: we demand you keep up the high standards or your will be abandoned. The only "institutions" that are still with us are the ones who are still doing it right.
