Well better you're told on CD than to your face, which you will be if you come out to CA(as in California) and start using that four letter word.

Sorry, but it is cringe worthy to both native Californians and those of us who have lived in CA for many years.

And I don't know anyone back east who has used that term since 1987, must be a Philly thing.

Things people only really care about on the internet. I'm lolling picturing someone screaming "CALIFORNIA" in that user's face. THEY JUST GOT TOLD.

Not a Philly thing in my neighborhood. I'm from the Philly area and don't use it when I speak, nor have I ever heard anyone use it. I do however use it as an abbreviation from time to time if I am typing. Won't do it it here though since I now know it is a four letter word on this board.

Here in the midwest we call it Cali... It just short and easier to say. Heck even a native from out there moved here and calls it Cali.

This is all LL Cool J's fault.

Anyways, to answer the OPs question. You should live in Pasadena or south Pasadena. 1300 can't get you a decent 1 bedroom in a safe clean area but it won't be anything luxurious.

SoCal is alright, but it's really more for commercials and PR stuff.
How about "SoCa"?

are you looking for a one bedroom? I think you could find a one bedroom in Pasadena for $1,100+.

The commute from Pasadena to Santa Monica sucks. It would be worse in the evening at rush hour.

It is kinda an 'east' coast thing. I never used it a ton so its been easy for me to adjust to since meeting my first friend from California over here who shared the same with me.

I'm personally from Cleveland, for the time being live in Miami, and have friends from everywhere from NY, DC, to the midwest who all use it.
