Kinda curious on this one...

All these large corporations packing up and leaving, like Northrop Grumman, Raytheon, Tesla, the list goes on. Are they failures? Could they just not cut it, or find their way, and tuck their tales between their legs and move? Because I was told all the talent is in California, not Texas or Reno or St Louis or DC. So I'm wondering whats happening here.

There are companies moving , but there are still a ton of companies here.

You also see other companies actually moving here or existing companies growing taking over the former spaces and facilities.

Businesses are in the business to make money and create a profit. Some are finding better opportunities in other places, just like individuals or families.

It's the natural cycle of things.

Great question 909er.

I'm curious as well. Does that fact that you couldn't make it in LA the way you had envisioned, then come on this message board to convince others how bad this city/state is make you a success?

909er, are you a failure since you're unemployed and do nothing but blame and complain about Los Angeles?

Yep, CA is not business favorable. It is self centered. "CA is great so who cares how much it costs a person or a business", is a common cry.

Large Business will leave some level of business in CA, but take the Corporate Center away to avoid the taxes and other encumbrances CA puts on them. Local business have no real choice as ... they draw their income from locals. The more people the more local businesses. Some good sized Businesses are tied to the State in other ways and stay for those reasons. Some draw benefit from the businesses that are near them in CA, even if their full business sells product outside the State. Lots of reasons for going and staying.

Many people have failed. It just depends on how one handles it. Easier said than done.

People and companies are constantly moving , things are constantly in flux. Especially in a big city like L.A or State like CA .

There are over $38 MILLION people in CA
and literally MILLIONS of businesses in CA

Huge numbers if you think about it .

Many people viewed historically as successful have experienced a number of failures mixed in with successes.
An example is President Lincoln. Overall of course he's not viewed as a failure by most people..but he suffered failures along the way .
Take a look

Abraham Lincoln's "Failures" and "Successes"

It's all about greed. After using CA to successfully build their brand, they will move to another State and bring along Talents from CA with them.

Not only to avoid taxes, but also to employ low wage workers from the Southern / Eastern states who would happily work for lower wages for a cool Company from CA.

If Companies are moving to your state because of the Tax Benefits, it's not something to really brag about.

Tesla moving to Nevada, I see no problems with that. Nevada needs more manufacturing and tech jobs. Not everyone wants to work as a black jack dealer at the Casinos.

Edit: I see that Tesla is still Headquartered in CA. The thing in Reno Nevada is just a plant to manufacture batteries.

Most people were recruited from other states to begin with.

I worked for a billion dollar corperation that before Obama took office was growing world wide.
Since have whittled down to a fraction of the labor force here, and developing else where.
California is not business friendly ,in spite of the propaganda.
Any new business that are coming in are in for a shocker come tax time.
My brother owned and operated a service business the family started years ago , he was very successful and when it came to retirement he sold it .
During the last few years working all over southern California we watched businesses come and go, mostly go.
NAFTA has a significant negative effect on manufacturing ,which is where most people had their income and investment.
If your product cost slightly more than something from china ,boasting the same stats, regardless of truth ,where does the local money get spent ?
I have checked out electronics coming from china, and quite often, though the less popular in-put and out-put jacks are there for show, but there is nothing wired to them on the inside.
Though they boast a list of functions, roughly half do not work.
You buy the cheapest stuff you "choose" to afford, made out of this country, and wonder why our economy is going to the dogs?
Don't take my word for it , find some cast off china made electronics and look inside. there are exceptions but not many.

China has progressed a LOT of the years.. their economy has grown massively, more people have become rich and middle class
and wages for factory workers have gone up.

A lot of the people paying top dollar over asking all cash for properties are Chinese that got rich in China.

It looks like Vietnam could be the next China ...at least this is what some people are saying.
