if you don't need a lively neighborhood but want to stay close to MDR then I would check out Westchester. Nearby Playa Del Rey could also be an option.

Are you kidding? Many make a lot less than that and live well.

Unless you're carrying massive debt and bringing it with you, your question is pretty ridiculous.

A single guy with simple needs could live nicely and still be able to invest/save with that kind of salary.

I didn't mean it as a brag, I thought Westside LA was like Manhattan where a 6 fig salary means you are middle class at best and struggling to get by

Depends what part of the west side. Not all of the west side is like Beverly Hills and Santa Monica although more and more of it is.

Palms and Del Rey are still more reasonable. Mar Vista and Westchester while increasingly expensive are still less so than surrounding areas like SM, Venice, MDR, even CC.

That is a lot of money. You can qualify for an $800,000 loan on $10K a month. With 20% down, that is a million dollar home. You can find lots of great homes at that price.

You say you're considering a job that pays $120K, what does that mean? Because if someone is actually offered a job paying that much should be able to do a little research that is right at their fingertips to find out about costs or apt. rentals, car insurance, etc.

I'm starting to suspect another "let's bash LA thread", because again a single person in LA making that kind of money can live quite well, and still save/invest a good part of their income. Unless you have massive debt that you bring with you. In fact a single person making $60K a year can live well.

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure that out.
