Big shakeup at the failing L.A Times. Hopefully quality improves .

---
In the latest major shake-up at the Los Angeles Times, Executive Editor and Publisher Davan Maharaj and his second-in-command Marc Duvoisin were abruptly fired Monday, according to the Los Angeles Times.

He was hopeful new management might remove a publishing bottleneck.

“This is a paper that is really worth supporting and I know a lot of people have been very disappointed with it,” he said. “It's been contracting in terms of pages. And it certainly is a lot more expensive than it used to be.”

Oh good. Maybe it will go back to being a NEWSpaper instead of opinions masquerading as news.

It's purpose should be to report the news, not to make it.

That is definitely true. Glad to know about the change.

For what it's worth, Levinsohn used to work at Fox.

It is sad to see the newspaper business gradually being replaced by the net and social media. My husband worked for the Times years ago, on a part time basis, just a couple of nights a week. It was such a good newspaper in those days. He still gets it on line. Along those lines, our local AR paper, conservative but pretty middle of the road is shrinking in size almost weekly.

Another big shake up, which will hopefully result in a better newspaper:

The sale, which is expected to close in April, comes after a particularly stormy period for the newspaper, which has seen three editors in six months, its publisher placed on unpaid leave...

During his chat, Dr. Patrick Soon-Shiong — soon to be the new owner of the newspaper -- talked about the role of journalism as a public service, especially in an era of fake news.
