Conservatives shut down the mental hospitals, decomocrats kept up the damage. Having a government ruled by one mentality could be the issue no? Maybe two sides keep each other in check.

Keep replicans from being greedy, keep liberal's hearts from bleeding too much?

The homeless situation now has been a disaster, generations in the making. Something that both liberal and conservatives swept under the rug.

LA and CA has been under liberal control for a long time. Liberals claim to care about poor people. This video is evident that they lie or they haven't done a very good job.

Back to the video. This looks really sad. I remember taking the bus at night to see a movie at the Cameo theater and ate at the nearby food joint at 1:00 AM. It was considered a bad area back then, but nowhere this bad. Now I wouldn't stay out that late in this area. I am glad I don't live there anymore.

Added: The liberal idea of caring is taking someone else's money to pay for programs run by public employee unions. What little money is left will eventually go to the intended recipients.

There hasn’t been a Republican as Los Angeles mayor since riordan, and Dems have held nearly every state elected office for over a decade.

It’s the Dems problem to own now.

Btw while your facts on who closed the mental hospitals are correct, you fail to disclose what led to that.

Why is that?

Actually LAPD had the downtown homeless population under 5,000....actually as low as 2,000 around 2012 until a hideous 9th circuit ruling ultimately ended almost all police enforcement against the homeless.

Los Angeles County's homeless population down by 38% - latimes

http://cdn.ca9.uscourts.gov/datastor...5/11-56253.pdf

That ruling was incomprehensible and shows those judges have zero understanding of OCD and the mental illness that is prevalent in homeless communities.

As I had said on other threads about the roots of the homeless crisis, anyone who was governor of California at the time the legislature passed the Lanterman-Petris Act would have signed it. Reagan was governor at the time, and signed it, but I can't picture any governor of either major party not signing it. It had full bipartisan support, was popular, and did not have much opposition.

The bad thing too is that there are many mini skid rows now outside of downtown under Eric's "leadership "

A big part of his agenda was solving homelessness and it says on his website that's he's been working on that goal since he was 14 years old , but he's just made it worse .

His track record is awful . Everything he touches turns to S .

This might be nieve but does that area have city services like trash and street sweeping?? I can totally picture union workers refuse to work there because it's unsafe

I wish the national news would show this video or at least parts of the video. Of course MSM protects their kind though.

I'm sure Garcetti's opponents if he actually runs will be using it to illustrate what a big failure he's been.
