Moving out of L.A would depend on what you are looking for in a life style and your political views as well. Austin is nice for liberals, as well as Or and WA. Vegas and Phoenix could have appeal to many people for various reasons. Whatever you do, don't choose someplace and then try to change it to be more like L.A. or keep remembering all you had that was good about L>A. Certainly don't push those views down the throuats of those living in your new home town.

1. If you're used to the stimulation of an urban area of 17.8 million people plus and all the activities available because of that, and you take advantage of that, moving to rural Iowa could make you feel as though you've had 'the rug pulled out from under you'.

2. There aren't any mountains around to soften the blow:

- Iowa ranks 9th out of the 50 states in elevation span (lowest point to highest point) with a span of 1,191 ft.
- Iowa is surrounded by 6 other states....Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Missouri, South Dakota, and Nebraska
- Illinois ranks even lower than Iowa in elevation span, coming in 7th with a span of 955 feet
- Wisconsin is right behind Iowa at 10th, with an elevation span of 1,372 feet
- Missouri is 12th, with an elevation span of 1,542 feet
- Minnesota is right behind Missouri at 13th, with an elevation span of 1,700 feet
- The highest points in both Minnesota and Wisconsin are in the northern parts of each state, well away from Iowa
- The highest point in Missouri is in the SE part of the state, not the part of the state that is close to Iowa
- Nebraska and South Dakota enjoy a greater variance in elevation, but that is because the highest points are close to Wyoming and Colorado, in the far west of each state, which is opposite to/farthest away from where Nebraska and South Dakota each abut Iowa on their eastern borders. The highest point in Nebraska is in close proximity to the lowest point in Colorado.

3. As mentioned, the weather.

4. If you're the type who never leaves your house, you can console yourself in that you are saving money in Iowa over what Los Angeles would cost.

Why? He didn't attack anyone. He merely referred to himself as white, without apologizing for it (e.g., Marianne Williamson) or expressing self-hatred (e.g. Rosanne Arquette)?

It's a quasi-myth that L.A. has all these activities. Yeah, they exist. But traffic acts as a barrier between you and those activities.

I live in Santa Monica. I often see activities I'd like to attend in Pasadena, or the Valley, or DTLA, or even Hollywood. Then I check SigAlert, and I see all those red freeways. So I reconsider. Do I really want to see those activities that bad? Usually, not. So I'll stay home instead.

Traffic has compartmentalized L.A. into bubbles. You'd better like your neighborhood bubble, because that's where you'll end up spending most of your time.

I moved out of LA back in May for Orange County. Better pay and cheaper rent for a nicer place than what I had in Glendale. Eventually I'd like to be in Arizona.

Texas isn't all it's cracked up to be. You trade those high California income taxes for way high property taxes. Especially if you buy in overpriced Austin. Texas property taxes were always high, but cheap homes (mostly in the 100-200k range) meant they didn't feel that bad. Now Austin home prices are 300-400k so those taxes are hitting hard.

Texas real estate used to never have big jumps in price inflation. My parents bought a swanky house in 1996 for 82k then sold it in 2012 for 120k. They built a new house for right at 200k in 2012 and now houses are reselling in their neighborhood for 305k just 7 years later. That price gain is HUGE for Texas and historically it has been a super stable market. Now the state is having to address the property taxes.

Because in today's twisted Leftist culture that dominates our society, if you are not a self-hating white person or apologetic for being white, then you are labeled as a racist / white supremacist.

Well, it depends. If you hate whites and blacks or other tonalities equally, you can pass for a nihilist misanthrope which can be a safe place to be. No reason to dump on the Left or the Right. They are just the two sides of the same coin.
