You are familiar with the 0-10 rating system, right? A California 6 would be a Portland or Houston or any other city 9. A California 7 would be a 10 in most other cities.

However, you're going to need an income of at least $250,000 per year to date a California 8. You'll need $500,000 or more to date a 9. You'll never date a California 10 unless you make upwards of $1,000,000 per year usually combined with a nationally recognized name in entertainment or possibly in politics.

On the other hand, if you just want to look but not touch, come on out and eat dinner at some expensive restaurants in Hollywood or Malibu and you'll see plenty of 10s. Or just buy Playboy Magazine for a comparable experience at a greatly reduced price.

What superficial and shallow remarks. No wonder so many women are obsessed with their appearance... men like you don't take anything else into consideration with your "ratings." A truly beautiful woman is happy and confident with who she is inside and out. Grow up.

Considering you're the one who asked what women look like in California, I really don't think you have much room to talk. It's not his fault, it's the public and the media. He speaks the truth.

LA has above average looking women compared to the rest of the country, but there are places with better looking women. Of all the places I've been to in throughout the country, which is quite a bit by the way, I would have to say that LA's neighbor Orange County has the best looking women. Unfortunately, for me anyways, OC also has the most amount of cosmetic surgery of anywhere I've seen in the country. This puts a lot of pressure on girls to be beautiful and make them feel like they need boob/nose jobs to "compete". Don't believe me? Go to the bars in Huntington or Newport on a Friday or Saturday night and you'll see what I mean.

I'm defending lovehound's reply as well. It was fairly restrained and accurate for a potentially rude question.

I'm a photographer, and can be very clinical (without being judgmental) about people's looks. If, by girls, one means youngish women, the youngish demographic in L.A. will be predominantly Latina and Asian; however, the law of averages says few will resemble Jessica Alba and Devon Aoki, both rightly celebrated for being preposterously gorgeous. So one should be amenable to what our city offers.

There is also a much larger percentage of poor in L.A. than any other major American city (50% as opposed to 28% in most others.) That translates to a lot of people with inadequate diets that can skew the demographic further into bad eating habits and being overweight. So you should be amenable to that as well. (Beach bunnies are only found in South Bay, S.M., and Malibu and the film and tv productions made here.)(And their casting offices.)

I once truthfully answered a friend from Rome when queried which city had more beautiful women, Rome or L.A.? As far as percentages of beautiful women and girls running around ferally in the city limits, I said Rome wins hands down. He was surprised, but observation of the two cities' populaces would confirm that to anyone familiar with both.

(Personal editorial, as a photographer. True, unassailable, physical beauty is a gift that one is born with, like any other talent that needs to be developed and sustained. Alba and Aoki were born with the genetic goods, but have styled themselves into contemporary and marketable beauties by discipline, self-maintenance and their own sense of style. I chose these two as examples of surgically-challenged beauties as well, no trout lips and porn-star implants, just hair extensions. That's why I don't think everyone is beautiful on the outside, as that statement would demean it: it is a gift, like talent, useless if you do nothing with it. Just like inner beauty, of which we're all capable!)

I doubt you'll get an answer. Or better yet, I doubt that the OP will even respond to this thread. He started a thread in December that went on for 13 or so pages and never responded.
