As of August of '21, it was 10. I don't see any updated information on this.

I hope that's mostly because vaccination has stopped the deaths.

More horrible reporting by our local news. The ten was comprised of 7 or 8 officers and 2-3 civilians.

How is it horrible reporting?

From August, 2021: According to the city of Los Angeles' Emergency Management Department, eight LAPD sworn employees and two civilian employees have died due to COVID-19 — numbers that had been reported earlier in the week, with the most recent COVID death of an LAPD officer.

From Jan. 25, 2022: COVID-19 was the leading cause of death last year for law enforcement officers in the U.S., with 301 dying from virus-related causes, according to the National Law Enforcement Memorial and Museum. At least 10 LAPD officers have died after being infected.

This source says only 3 have been fired. Maybe the others mentioned before technically resigned.

Seven other employees are pending termination proceedings, and a total of 14 personnel -- 13 sworn and one civilian -- have been found to not be in compliance with the vaccination mandate, Choi said.

About 83% of the department is fully vaccinated, 0.4% is partially vaccinated and 16.2% is not vaccinated. More than 2,000 exemptions are pending. Medical exemptions are available to people who tested positive for COVID-19 recently, as those individuals get a 90-day exemption.

I think I figured it out. Some employees have in effect been terminated, but they're using up sick days or vacation days before they are officially gone. LAPD doesn't have to let them do that, but I guess it does. Or maybe the union makes it so that leave must be exhausted first.

We're still doing the Covid thing? I thought we'd all moved on to #IStandWithUkraine.

Well I guess that is proof of the old adage "some of us can walk and chew gum at the same time"

Be glad you aren't in the same Nextdoor that I am, there is currently an ongoing discussion about some people being disturbed by kids playing basketball in their own driveways /sigh. And then there is the daily deluge of ring photos of someone who rang a doorbell and they must have been 'casing' their house.
