Californio Sur:

I must say that I do sense negativity in the OP because the person doesn't see that there are obvious positives to the climate here. And I can list them:
1. Cools off in the evenings here in the summer which is a plus
2. No need to wait for a bus at a bus stop and have to deal with tons of snow on the ground.
3. Less humid than other parts of the country in the summer and that DOES make a difference.
4. If you drive, there is no need to worry about having an accident due to snow and ice conditions. I don't drive so this one does not apply to me.
5. You CAN get used to the heat here and I am used to it now but its been a long time.
6. No tornadoes or hurricanes.

So if you look for the positives, you will find them.

Basically endless sunshine. But some people do get a little tired of the sameness of our climate. I know by the end of September people [esp those who live inland away from the beach] are get weary of the long summer than doesn't end until November. Also we never seem to get enough rainfall and worry each winter that it will not rain hardly at all.

But this spring\ early summer has been one of the coolest on record. Even today it did not reach 90F in Pasadena and we haven't had any real heat so far. That's what I love about the climate; it is mostly comfortable year-round.

Funny...the more you have to constantly prove the worthiness of something, the less worthy it really is. A bit like incessant product commercials..they need constant advertising and attention to sell.

Southern California isn't the only overcrowded destination that people flock to...I think that's what some of you simply don't want to accept. There are millions of people who immigrate all over the world to all sorts of destinations. So where you get this conclusion that somehow people flock here and nowhere else because of all the 'pluses' makes no sense.

The US ranked 7th in the world as far as immigration INTO the country goes. The largest group of people who immigrated to the US in 2010 were of Mexican origin. That's not counting illegals but simply what's on the books.

The next highest ethnic immigration population to immigrate to the US were the Chinese coming in at a paltry 4.7% of total immigrants, followed by Phillipinos at 4.2%.

California's immigrants are largely from Latin origin...a full 56% of immigrants into California...followed by 34% Asian (Phillipines and China).

I'm glad some of you think that a large influx of people from problem-riddled areas of the world coming to CA somehow classify CA as being this desirable wonderland that everyone wants to come to.

Fact of the matter is (and I've not even bothered to list the stats for this particular tid-bit) that the rate of 'educated' and well-to-do immigrants is at an all time LOW for California and the US in general. Nice to know.

Now defend away with how great the weather is. Hell with the rest.

The topic is on the climate not the overall desirability of California or Los Angeles. And since we are focused on climate it is noteworthy that the "Mediterranean" classification of climates is considered the most comfortable overall according to just about every poll. So the discussion has been about the OP's opinion that the climate of Los Angeles "sucks." On that one subject many are challenging the OP that the climate of Los Angeles most certainly doesn't suck unless a person wants a continental climate common to most of America with cold and at times snowy winters and hot and humid summers. The difference between the coldest month [Jan-68F] and the warmest month [August-85F] is only 17 degrees. There are very few places in the US except the California coast that have such an equitable climate. It only rains on average less than 30 days a year.

Some of us wish it would rain more often and have more interesting weather but overall it is impossible to complain about the climate of Los Angeles.

Its too bad the climate is so damn dry from may-oct & sometimes into nov & dec. The eves though are cool. Last night at 3:00am it was 85 in vegas & palm springs & only 61 in LA & here. I may visit hollywood this summer. Its been almost 8 yrs since i have been in LA/hollywood (7-02). Its 70 miles west of yucaipa but once i hit ontario the traffic is a ***** (even on weekends).

Yes, in many people's opinion, the climate of Los Angeles is comfortable but comfortable does not necessarily mean that its better than(insert city name here). The climate of a certain city is subjective and in my opinion, it should not be the only factor to take into consideration when moving somewhere. I personally don't think Los Angeles has the nation's best climate. No place has perfect weather. Perfection is an ideal that can never be reached in the world.
