Avery Island is also very nice. I forgot about it. Are there many flowers in bloom this time of year? The Tabasco plant's a rip off, though.

When you're at Shadows, take some time to admire the grounds in the back. I'll be dreaming that's my backyard for quite a long time. I'd have to put in a pool, though.

I was gonna mention Lake Martin and Avery Island, but I dont think the OP has a lot of time to spend around Lafayette. If they find the time to go these places I highly recommend it. Especially Avery Island gardens.

My husband and I will be in town last week of July anxious for good food and better music, and we know that what's printed in the travel guides is not always ..........Also, where are best places to have seafood shipped home?

Depending on the weather, Friday evening you could go to Downtown Alive for some music and dancing.
