My job is taking us to Louisville, KY would appreciate some input and advise. We narrow down city to live is Goshen, KY due to better schools. We are intend to buy home in Ghosen, KY. Does Goshen has flooding issue? Do you need flood insurance? Mold, air quality are an issue? How is commute to Brownsboro Road during rush hours? Any comment would be appreciated and have a blessed day all.

I was in Goshen just this very morning. You'll love Goshen. It's a marvelous lifestyle. Yes, there are traffic issues occasionally, but worth the 5 to 10 minutes of delays you might have.
.
Flooding, well, Noah might have seen Goshen under water, but unless you buy within 1000' of the river, there won't be any problems.

I'm not a salesperson, and I don't play one on TV either - and I think Goshen is alright if you're looking for a fairly quiet suburban neighborhood where you have to drive 15-20 minutes in order to do most activities outside of your home. I grew up in Prospect (neighboring town to Goshen) and delivered pizza in both Prospect and Goshen/Skylight (the other neighboring town to the east), and Goshen is much more open space and peaceful.

You should have minimal worries about flooding unless you're looking directly off of Rose Island Road in the subdivision near the water called Cardinal Harbor (that may even be annexed into Prospect now) or off of Buckeye Lane. If you are looking at a home with a basement, always do your due diligence when looking at the quality of the basement when it comes to flooding - there are a number of ways a basement can flood without having actual flooding at street level. Air quality in Louisville is a problem for anyone with allergies, it doesn't matter what area of the city or suburbs you're in. Otherwise, it's fine for air and water quality.

If you're looking for a church home as well, my mother is the "old lady who talks too much" at New Goshen Presbyterian off of US 42 on your way into Prospect.

Best wishes on your search.

Servo, Goshen has filled in quite a bit...there are a lot more developments there now than 10 years ago. That said it is still open and peaceful.

I would imagine so Peter - Oldham County has been growing like rabbit babies in the last 5-10 years. I'm curious to check out the neighborhood around St. Francis Goshen when I'm back in town for T-giving in a few weeks to see what it looks like these days.

Does anyone know if the Skylight General Store still exists? I am pretty sure the Goshen one does. I used to work in the Papa John's that was right next to the Skylight General Store back in the 90's.
