I don't mind the bigger complexes. When I was younger i had a blast living in them thanks to the pools, fitness rooms, and other 20 somethings that were fun to socialize with. River Oaks is a wonderful complex almost within walking distance to the VA hospital. Cypress Point is nice but Mallard Crossing and Waterford are the best as far as amenities, location, and quality of residents. Another option within 10 minutes drive of the VA is the Overlook on Brownsboro Rd. near the Watterson Expressway. All the ones I mention are pricey for our market but probably within your budget and well worth it. Signed- the former apartment dweller.

So I have picked four apartments as my top possibilities:

1.) Cypress Pointe
2.) River Oaks
3.) Creekside at St. Matthews
4.) Jamestown of St. Matthews

What say you? How would you rate the chocies and why? Are there any choices that I should definitely get rid of? How are the choices as far as location and neighborhood?

Thanks in advance!!

I believe any of them are fine. You seem persistent in wanting large, corporate complexes. I would really look at a few nicer apartments and especially private owners renting their condos. You can often rent a whole updated home for the same price as a "unit" in one of those large complexes.

Also, if you are looking at several in that St. Matthews cluster, I think you are really missing the boat by not looking at Waterford Place. Should I be forced (haha) to live in a corporate complex, that would be by number one choice.

I'm very familiar with River Oaks and Creekside. I lived in Cypress Pointe and liked it just fine. Creekside used to be cheaper and was a little run down but it was also the most social of the places. I used to play volleyball there on the weekends and always met new people every time. The pool was very popular too. That was years ago though. I used to live next door to River Oaks in the Coppershire & new someone over there. It was very social too. I don't think you can go wrong with those three. I can't speak for Jamestown.

stx12499,

I think we are on different ends of the spectrum and that is cool.

I have little to no interest in living somewhere that doesn't have everything I need within VERY close walking distance. I mean as far as a gym, laundry facility, pool etc. I will be moving to a different city with no family and while I am okay with venturing out, I want it to be by choice, not neccessity. Plus there are features that high end corporate apt complexes have that rennovated homes usually don't ie sauna, pool, hot tub, indoor pool, etc. Having a pool very close to me is not an option.

Thanks for the suggestion and I will go and look at Waterford Place.

Thanks again!
