You called it, Case:

Adams was very emotional at the introduction ceremony at the USA, and said that it was always his dream job. He took at least one veiled jab at his predecessor, but then also thanked him. He also said that he wasn’t taking any steps back, and that his goal was not only to “play on Monday night,” but to “cut down the net like Baylor just did.”

He had the support of a lot of basketball alumni. With the arena that has aged well and still among the youngest in the conference (& will be even after UT and BU build theirs), the Womble Basketball Center, the new nutrition center, donors who care deeply, and the best attendance in the state pre-Covid, there is a very good foundation.

I was hoping they’d pick Adams. I haven’t spoken to him or his son since I was in elementary school, but he always seemed like good people, much less pretentious and uptight than most Christian school parents.

Default First game for Coach Adams

They got the expected W tonight over N. Florida in front of more than 14,000 people. Forward Bryson Williams said this:

Then at halftime this happened:

Looks like football might be fun to follow again…

Good things happening in both sports.

I love Mark Adams, have known he was the true heart of the program. Joey McQuire won me over at his introduction, and the Raider Power chant at the basketball game was awesome!

The scene in Lubbock THIS past Saturday (at the football game) was great. Yes, there could have been more fans, but it got LOUD nonetheless. Thankful to have been able to attend.

Both conference POTW’s, Smith and Garibay, were deserving.
