Looks like I have an excellent chance to transfer from Phoenix, Az to South Portland for work.
So excited and will know for sure within 10 days.
i am shocked at the high cost of rental homes/condos/apts . i am considering an off season furnished rental but worried about oil and electricity costs. I am a 52 professional female with no pets and a no smoker. Am thinking $900 a month including utilities sounds good.
Would appreciate any suggestions.

congrats moughie!!!

rentals are high in portland area- one of the reasons, is there's colleges in portland and the students, often rent homes/apartments too,,so demand makes the rents go up

have you look in scarbourough?? westbrook??
call a property management company in that area -thats what they do-rentals

$900 month with heat and hot water? that's really good for South Portland and vicinity. Is that something you found or you are looking for?

I moved to South Portland last year after selling my home in Auburn. I looked into the seasonal rental but I found them very expensive! Luckily I found a home to buy and I am VERY happy living here. I think you will just have to bight the bullet and rent an apt. try getting yourself a shorter lease or month to month. Be upfront and let them know you just need something to get you through winter and then can decide to stay or move elsewhere?? I think that would work. You can DM me if you have any specific questions.
