Off topic- Pictures of my field trip to Mermaid's Island (well- you know..the one she lives on sometimes..), 6 miles down the bay from my island:

My son, in his boat gear, waiting for 6:00 a.m. so we could drive down to the dock:

Our ride from Stonington on the mailboat:

Walking down the middle of the road like the tourists we were:

The post office (what it is 10'x10'..maybe?)

An early 70's Ford Bronco-probably in as good shape as the day it rolled off the lot (it turned my head!):

The one-room schoolhouse (2 if you include the basement/science room):

The lady that showed up at school on her scooter and had all the boys running to check it out:

My son using the Island Mass Transit System (aka- riding with 9 other kids in the back of a rusty pick-up truck, driven by the teachers assistant!):

The walkway to the church (no pic of the church because this VERY long wooden walkway goes so far into the woods to get to the church...that I couldn't see the church from the street. My sister (and Mermaid's, too!) got married in that church- I have managed this walkway in heels and a bridesmaid dress..it's VERY long!

A local yard ornament:

I underestood what you were saying as:
"Maine has good looking ladies in the summer, then the tourists go home, leaving no good lookers here."

Which sounds mean.

Whereas I had meant to be saying that Maine Ladies are good looking.

Deerislesmile- those are great pics! Looks like not much has changed since I left. In fact, that's why we call it home, we like it that way!

I especially liked the one of "the lady" on the scooter.

I disagree. I think it's funnier than heck. If you can't stand the locals, go home.
