Supposedly a couple camping at Mooselookmeguntook lake saw a Bigfoot take a swim in 2005. They went down to find it's tracks the next day and reported the tracks were 14-16 inches long and 6 inches across at the heel. Supposedly there have been sightings along the Royal River in Durham as well. Problem is I don't think the Royal River goes through Durham!

Okay, so as this is somewhat in the realm of folklore,.... my Mum told us stories when we were kids about "the hairy men" that supposedly inhabited some of the hard to reach areas. When her Father (my Grandfather) was a school boy he was known as "nature boy" as he'd take off from school and go running through the woods naked pretending he was one of the "hairy men". I guess the stories go back a long way.

You're right......it runs from New Gloucester through Pownal to Yarmouth.

Seems like all places and cultures have their scary monster stories. Just look at Grimm's Fairy Tales - pretty scary stuff!

Bigfoot is alive and well in Maine and has been for years. I am married to him. Seriously, my husband got dubbed "Bigfoot" back in the late 70s by a coworker. To this day, he is still known as Bigfoot and alot of guys he has worked with over the years have no idea what his real name is. Ask anyone who has worked for H.E.Sargent if they know Bigfoot and they will say Yes, but don't ask them to give you his real name. LOL

I bagged a bigfoot here in Ohio. He's stuffed and mounted on my living room wall.

They are the stinkinest things. Man....whooooweeeeee. I thought skunk was bad.

I remember I smelled the darn thing long before I heard it..then I saw it. It looked right at me but I froze still. I got the buck fever and darn near passed out.

I put a bead on 'im and I was shakin' so bad and my heart was beatin' so hard I didn't think I'd ever hold still.

Finally, the shotgun went off and I got him right through the middle.

He must of had some buddies off in the woods where I couldn't see for the brush and they started up with the worst racket you ever heard. I thought there for a few minutes I'd have to shoot my way out.

Pretty soon it got quiet and I left. It took me and my brother in law both to pull him up out of that hollow he was in.

True story!!

Hey if we have doubts about Bigfoot or Little Green Men or Nessy..................Maybe we should consult Tom Walsh Reporter for the Ellsworth American as he has seen many of these things and still does.......................lol
