yup... it isn't fun to leave that laying somewhere and go hunting for it!! It's usually not us that has it last--it's one of the kids and it's out beside some tunnel or fort in progress!

the plow sound.... thunder? that's the closest thing I can compare it to... but that's not quite right either... hmmm...

How many times tonight must I shovel out the end of the driveway? How many times tonight must I pay the plow guy? I hope he only comes once in the morning before I have to leave for work!

The shovel? I think it's on the deck... no, maybe I left it in the garage. Crap, it's burried!

Oh one of my very favorites is when I am at work and it snows all day and when I get home, I can not get in the driveway. The plow truck has made a 2ft snowbank across the end of the driveway which is now frozen. Oh yeah...good times!

Ours was in the garage when I left home a few days ago. Before that it was in the bathtub, after K shoveled off the deck and steps. I am thinking of getting one of those rubber mats with ridges and a raised edge to put by the door, for boots and to hold the shovel.

K told me it was snowing in Corinth this AM, and I am down in NC...

Totally off the off-topic topic, I have decided that "home is where they hold you in their hearts". It feels strange, as I no longer have roots here, but feel in many ways still at home. Eveyone has welcomed me "home" with open arms and hugs, my hands still remember every bend in the road as it winds through the marsh (bog in NC speak) and I will doubtless cry when I leave Harkers Island tomorrow to head home. Having more than one "home" is an interesting experience for this formerly rolling stone.

My kids used to swear the only reason I had them was to either shovel or lug wood.

(they were right)

KIDDING!
