It looks as if this storm is going to be a major issue for SE Texas. We're trying to decide if we need to leave tomorrow. I guess we'll know more in the morning. They are saying this could be the next Rita for our area - we sustained a good bit of loss and 10 day power outage with that one. So.....

Our family in Corpus are being evacuated first thing in the morning. They're headed north east, so they'll be out of harm's way. I'm just praying for those down south who are most likely to sustain the direct hit.

Why aren't we there yet???

A good part of the town of Milo burned today.

"At this point, we know at least five businesses have been impacted and at least a third of downtown has been burned. Maine's Department of Economic and Community Development will send specialists to Milo to help the town and businesses recover," Governor Baldacci said.

Msina, I am so sorry to hear of this tragedy in the town that you call home! You live just off the main street -- it must have been horrorific!
I hope that no one was hurt or made homeless by this event.

Wow, coming up rt16 in downtown Milo at the stop sign you face a hardware store in a large building with a bunch of other businesses.

Was it that building?

I am trying to think of what building had 5 businesses in it.

Hope that you are not effected, Msina.

It was THAT hardware store and all the adjasant buildings. Reteraunt, pizza place, pool hall, vacant theatre and apartments. Thanks Forest, it's a lot to a small town, that was a great hardware store.
