Why on God's green earth does the state of Maine prevent adults from purchasing wine over the internet and having it shipped to our residences.
I'm sure I'm not going to buy mass quantities of it and bootleg it out of the cellar.
Like fireworks. Somehow the people in the neighboring state of New Hampshire are more responsible than Mainers. They can have wine AND fireworks....probably at the same time!

STATE OF MAINE..................... Leave us alone!!

How about these emergency warnings? I don't remember more than one time, in other places I've lived, where they actually used the TV system for more than regular tests. But we've had 2 while I've been watching a movie this afternoon for a thunderstorm. What's up with that? It really freaked me out the first time.

Maineah, there was an effort to change the wine prohibition last year IIRC. The arguments against it are that teenagers would be able to buy wine without an age check and the state won't be able to collect its tax. I suspect it's more of the latter than the former.

I think the emergency warnings reflect the more-violent weather we've been having lately. This year alone we've had flooding, tornadoes, fatal lightning strikes, high winds, and torrential downpours. I've lived in Maine almost all my life (so far!) and the weather this year has been particularly bad IMO. Be thankful you don't live in the Midwest where the television tornado warnings are accompanied by alert sirens in every town.

"The Children" seem to be able to get any booze that want without having to resort to the internet.
Do these morons really think a kid is going to try to get wine shipped to them ???Give me a break. I just wish these clowns would let adults be adults and to heII with the kids for once.

I wish the kidswould go back to ETOH. That's why the old timers are growing their own and the LEO's leave them alone for the most part. They don't even want to deal with the damn kids as they are all on chemicals these days.

Some young people seem to find prescription drugs enjoyable recreation. Some will take meds from adults homes, in particular the older folks. Some of these medications are fairly risky when abused.
The sharp increase of internet prescription orders alarmed many people when some youngsters decided to order oxycontin and other meds online, (I have no idea where they got a prescription or if they did). This led in part to regulating internet sales of Alcohol and Tobacco products as well as prescription drugs I believe.
