It seems to me I read the mil was $17 per 1000 last year. Now I'm curious and have to look it up.

I was right. Always surprises me when I do that. The 2006 mil rate was $17.80 (0.01780) and 2005 it was $17.85. So they have pretty much held steady on the mil rate. The total R/E valuationn has increased but the certified ratio has stayed at 100%.

Maine Revenue Services: Property Tax - Statistical Summary

It covers all the state as far as taxes. Hope this helps.

Yes, it is somewhat isolated and will take some getting used to but I think I will adapt well. The people are wonderful.
Thx for the reply, Brian
Brian,

It isn't THAT isolated! Milbridge is only a 30-45 minute drive to Ellsworth, and about 25-30 minute drive to Machias! They even have cable tv available! SO, it's not the end of the world!

Howards was really good before they closed it for the health violations. It's open again... I hope it's as good.

The place was a tradition coming home from Bangor. Stop and eat at the Red Barn. I wouldn't take the MIL or FIL there but the wife liked it. Gotta stop and see next time thru.

It was only closed for a short time years ago. It opened right back up.
Sorry, I should have dated my comments. I don't think that it has the same owners now.

I have a house in Milbridge. It is a wonderful place to retire and live. Be advised that people are slow to warm. Call the Milbridge office and they should be able to help you.
